Our History
LJA Miers & Co over the years
since 1954
1954 LJA Miers & Co Ltd was born
Leslie John Aubrey Miers set up a business in a small shop unit off Stratford High Street in London making and selling gaskets. He employed 2 people before expanding to Ponders End, where the Miers ‘plop pad’ for glazing was born – the first of its kind in the UK.
1987 Acquisition & growth move to Gamlingay, Cambs
More than doubling our production size to over 40,000sq ft. We had extensive factory and warehouse facilities and expanded into supplying the automotive industry and a wide selection of direct sales parts.
2000 Production expansion to St Neots, Cambs
A new unit was sourced of more than 71,000 sq ft to house increased machine capability and an expanding stock range. Turnover increased 147% underpinning the move to support our growth strategy.
2013 Implementation of world leading MRP system
All business processes streamlined with deployment of SAP Business One to enable full automation from receipt of raw materials through to sales order processing, job scheduling and invoicing. Ability to customise to meet customers work flow and digital needs. Paperless operations introduced and we’ve never looked back.
2025 To the future
A commitment to remaining highly competitive in the market, reducing costs and reaching our green goals has meant a serious investment in our future sustainability e.g. efficient machine technology, state of the art roof to improve factory working, solar panels & smashing recycling targets. LJA Miers is built on strong foundations and always looking to the future.
